Role Overview:

As the DEI Specialist at AfrosInTech.com, you will be a key advocate and catalyst for driving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing strategies that ensure our community is inclusive, supportive, and representative of the diverse talent within the tech industry. This role requires a skilled communicator and strategist with a deep understanding of DEI best practices, a commitment to social change, and a vision to create an equitable tech ecosystem for people of African descent.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. DEI Strategy Development
    • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with the company’s mission and values.
    • Set measurable goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress and impact of DEI initiatives.
  2. Education and Training
    • Develop and conduct DEI training sessions and workshops for employees, community members, and partners.
    • Provide resources and educational materials to promote diversity awareness and foster an inclusive culture.
  3. Recruitment and Talent Management
    • Partner with HR to develop inclusive recruitment practices that attract diverse talent to the platform.
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to create a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  4. Community Engagement
    • Engage with community members to understand their needs and experiences, especially those from underrepresented groups.
    • Develop initiatives to ensure all community members feel valued, respected, and heard.
  5. Policy Review and Development

    • Act as a DEI spokesperson, promoting the platform’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in public events and media engagements.
    • Advocate for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry through thought leadership and networking.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Diversity and Inclusion, Social Sciences, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees and certifications in DEI are preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a DEI leadership role, preferably within the technology industry or community-focused organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of DEI best practices, strategies, and industry trends.
  • Experience developing and executing successful DEI programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset, with the ability to use data to measure and communicate the impact of DEI efforts.
